Gloucestershire Probation is a Criminal Justice Agency which manages some 2,000 offenders in the community and in prisons.
Our aims are to:
- Protect the public
- Cut crime
- Enforce the punishment of offenders in the community
- Ensure offenders' awareness of the effects of crime on victims and the public
- Rehabilitate offenders.
Gloucestershire Probation works closely with partners in the criminal justice system and participate in Multi-Agency Public Arrangements (MAPPA) to protect the public and reduce reoffending. Other key partners include: Gloucestershire Police, the courts and the Crown Prosecution Service; government health, employment and education agencies; local authorities; the voluntary and private sectors; victims and communities.
We employ around 200 staff in Gloucestershire. This includes work in prison, one approved premises, magistrates' courts and crown courts and our four main office locations. Other staff work in supporting roles such as training, research, IT , administration, finance and human resources.
