Press Statement issued by Gloucestershire Probation Trust (GPT) in Respect of its Offender Management Inspection

In response to the report published today, Chief Executive, John Bensted said:

“We are very pleased with the Inspectors comments on how forward thinking GPT is and the recognition of our strong relationships with partners. This is good news for the staff of GPT and real recognition of the work that is achieved in protecting the public and reducing reoffending, our organisational priorities. We performed above average in protecting the public and last week the national reducing reoffending rates were published showing that we are very effective in decreasing reoffending.

Like all Public Sector agencies, GPT is facing very challenging budgets. GPT has demonstrated that we can work closely with our partners (Police, Courts, and County Council etc) to meet local needs, deliver strong performance within challenging budgets and have the organisational capability to meet future challenges. However, we are aware of the improvements that can be made and a robust action plan has been put in please to realise these actions.” 1st March 2011
