In partnership with Stroud District Council and REACH Gloucestershire, community payback offenders from Gloucestershire Probation Trust have been working on the Cotwolds Canal restoration project. Community payback offenders have worked hard to make the towpath a safe and pleasant place for visitors. The towpaths between Brimscombe and Stonehouse are currently being upgraded.
Jon Pontefract, canal volunteer manager said “the restoration of the canal is a big undertaking but the payback to the community will be huge, bringing economic, environment, heritage and leisure benefits to the whole district”.
